This week big news broke if you’re a traveler! Europe announced that Vaccinated American will *likely* be able to visit across the pond this summer! Many countries, including some European countries already, are already open or planning to open to vaccinated travelers! In this blog post, I’m gonna spill the tea for you on where you can go and everything you’ll need to know prior to getting there if you’re a fellow vaccinated peep! If you love to travel, get the V card ASAP because the world is waiting for you!
If you’re more of a cruiser, I’ll also break down a list of all the major cruise lines who have already said vaccinated passengers only! The country and cruise lists are growing everyday so get out there and get that shot people!
Just a friendly reminder, that even though you may be able to travel to some of these destinations without a COVID test if you are vaccinated, every person re-entering America from another country will need to take have a negative COVID test (regardless of Vaccination status) prior to departure. This does not include American Territories including the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico! That means that if you’re going to travel internationally, its safest to be vaccinated before you do, not only to protect yourself and others, but also, to ensure you do not become infected while abroad and are stuck quarantining in a foreign country! Also, remember that many of these countries may still have restrictions in place, so be sure to check those out before you book! No lets get after it
INTERNATIONAL
Belize: -Belize no longer requires a pre departure COVID test if fully vaccinated 2 weeks prior to arrival! (2 weeks following second Moderna or Pfizer shot, or two weeks following one and done J and J) They are currently OPEN to travelers! You will need to fill out some travel forms ahead of time!
Croatia- Croatia no longer will require pre departure COVID test and quarantine process if fully vaccinated two weeks prior to arrival! They are currently OPEN to travelers! If you are not vaccinated, you can still visit Croatia, however the process will be much more difficult. You must fill out an “Enter Croatia Form” and either have a negative COVID PCR test within 48 hours of arrival or a certificate confirming recovery from COVID 19 within the last 11-180 days to prove that you have antibodies. You can also choose to test on arrival, but will have to quarantine until the results are in.
France- France’s Government reports that they will begin to lift travel restrictions in May. Further details are to come but The French President said that France will be “open for those who are fully vaccinated” and that they will likely be able to bypass a COVID test! You could be able to summer on the French Riviera if you get the shot ASAP! One of my favorite places in the world!
Iceland- Iceland is currently open to fully vaccinated visitors with no quarantine required! I highly recommend this magical place!
Ireland – Ireland is welcoming fully vaccinated tourist with no quarantine time required. However, they do still require a negative PCR test within 72 hours of arrival
Malta- Malta is definitely on my bucket list! Malta plans to lift most travel restrictions by June 1st and is looking to be fully open to anyone who is fully vaccinated. They are also planning on handing each incoming tourist up to 238 dollars if they book with a local hotel directly with a minimum of two nights! Pretty sweet incentive!
Ecuador- You can now visit Ecuador if you are fully vaccinated and skip any pre testing. If you wish to visit the Galapagos Islands specifically, you will still need a negative COVID 19 test 96 hours before arrival.
Guatemala- Guatemala is open to travelers who are fully vaccinated
Montenegro-Fully Vaccinated travelers from certain countries, including the US, are now able to visit Montenegro. You can visit if you are not vaccinated but will need a negative COVID test within 72 hours of arrival. Montenegro is one of Europe’s most under the radar gems IMO!
Seychelles- Another bucket-list destination! On March 25th, the Seychelles opened to visitors. If you have been fully vaccinated, you no longer will need to quarantine! You will still need a negative PCR test within 72 hours of arrival. If you are not vaccinated, you can still visit, but you must quarantine for 14 days. Not the best way to spend a vacation.
Thailand- American are able to travel to Thailand if fully vaccinated and can skip the mandatory quarantine! You will need to apply for a special Visa though. You can get more info on that thru the Thai Embassy
Greece- Greece is already welcoming tourists back starting April 19th! If you are fully vaccinated, you will be able to visit Greece and skip the mandatory testing! Spain- Spain just announces yesterday that they are ready to welcome vaccinated travelers back beginning in June! If vaccinated, you will be able to skip any mandatory testing before departure! Again, you can still visit Spain if you are not vaccinated, but you will need to show a negative COVID test or proof of antibodies from recent covid infection
Maldives-As if the Maldives weren’t amazing enough, they are offering something pretty spectacular. As part of their upcoming “3Vs” program, they will vaccinate visitors upon arrival! “Visit, Vaccinate, Vacation!” At this time, Americans are able to travel to the Maldives with a negative COVID test within 96 hours. They are set to make an announcement soon saying that vaccinated travelers will be able to skip the mandatory pre arrival testing!
In total, there are 90+ countries that Americans can travel to right now as well, these are just the countries that have made specific instructions and exceptions for vaccinated travelers to make the travel process easier for them. Every day new countries are added to this list so be sure to stay on top of it if you are vaccinated and itching to travel this summer!
DOMESTIC
Recently, the CDC reported that fully vaccinated individuals are safe to travel domestically within the United States without testing or quarantine needed, which was fantastic news! A domestic trip this summer is a super safe option if you’re not quite ready for international travel yet! Hawaii, USVI and Puerto Rico are a bit of an exception:
Hawaii-If you are fully vaccinated, you will likely be able to skip pre departure testing and quarantining this summer! At this time, you will be able to skip the quarantine process by providing proof of a negative test.
USVI- To visit the USVI, you must submit a negative COVID test prior to arrival via their Travel Screening Portal
Puerto Rico- Tourists heading to Puerto Rico must show a negative COVID test within 72 hours of arrival and upload it via their online portal, however that may be changing soon for Vaccinated travelers!
Just a Reminder that when travelling home from any of these destinations, you do not need a negative COVID test to enter back into the main land!
CRUISES
This year, cruising is set to make a comeback, even as early as this summer! To make it as safe as possible for everyone to return to cruising, several major cruise lines have already announced they will be a requiring all passengers to be vaccinated before sailing. This list is growing daily! In the last month the following cruise companies have announced vaccine mandates:
1) Celebrity Cruises
2) Royal Caribbean
3) UnCruise Adventures
4) Crystal Cruises
5) Virgin
6) American Steamboat Company
7) Victory Cruise
Many of these cruise lines have also mandated their employees to all be vaccinated as well to ensure the utmost safety to their guests and staff! I had a fabulous time on the Royal Caribbean Cruise I took a few years back and I can’t wait to return to vaxed cruising!
So that’s the tea! If you like to travel you should get vaccinated! Plain and Simple. Its going to make your life easier and be safer for you and everyone around you! Let’s get back to safe travel ASAP!
