Last week, my girls and I had an amazing day of rest and relaxation at SoJo Spa Club in Edgewater, NJ! Located a few hours from CT and right outside the city, SoJo is the ideal place to unwind and get away from all your worries for the day. Despite the somewhat stressful drive, once we entered the facility, our stress melted away and we were ready to unplug and on a budget to boot!
Sojo is a large spa club with multiple pools, saunas and spa services offered. As far as the price goes, it was a bargain! Talk about Bouj-E on a budget! If you go on a weekday, its only 50 dollars to access the entire club! (75 on weekends) If you would like services, such as massages, facials or Korean body scrubs, these are an additional cost ranging in price and time of the service. Even though these are great options you certainly do not need to splurge on any of these services to have an amazing day! I chose to skip the services and lounge by the beautiful rooftop infinity pool overlooking the New York City skyline, instead. Pretty good option, I gotta say!
Speaking of pools, this was pool HEAVEN! With multiple heated pool options, each offering a different type of therapy, you can spend the whole day pool hopping! Not too shabby! Some of the different pools offered are a cedar lemon pool, a silk pool, a Carbon pool, plunge pool and multiple soaking pools with jets, plus the amazing infinity pool I mentioned earlier! Each pool is heated at different temperatures, making SoJO a great destination, even in the winter.
The 50 dollar entrance fee also gets you access to multiple saunas and therapy rooms, and you better believe we tried every single one! Some of these include a salt room, a charcoal room, a dry and wet sauna and an ice room. There are also multiple “relaxation” areas, a rooftop garden terrace and a cafe serving up delicious meals and smoothies at a reasonable cost!
Sooooo, What to know before you go?:
SoJo is a “No shoes” facility. Essentially as soon as you enter, you give up your shoes. Which feels odd, yet weirdly freeing and relaxing at the same time. You get a wrist badge which is your key to your locker where you can store all of your stuff. From there, you will be whisked to the locker room where you will be handed your complimentary robe for the day. You will wear these robes throughout your time at SoJO, while accessing the different areas of the facilities and while hanging in the saunas. Your wrist band is also connected to your credit card, so this is your money for the day, which is super convenient and limits all the things you need to carry around. Excessive cell phone use is prohibited; however, many people were using their phones throughout the day to snap some pics of the beautiful facility. Another helpful hint is go on a weekday!! The weekends get very busy, so take a mental health day( or a comp day in my case) and go enjoy a much quieter experience!
What to bring?:
You definitely need a bathing suit! Once you enter, street clothes aren’t allowed in the pool areas or in the saunas. Sunglasses are also a must. You can also bring a book or music, whatever makes you feel nice and Zen. There was complimentary body wash, shampoo etc, for the showers, so no need to pack that!
Well, now that you’re in the know, go plan your ultimate spa day!! No need to book ahead of time, but I suggest getting there right at 9 am when it opens so you have the whole day there to relax! #treatyoself
